Crazy

Yet again, here I am apologising for my lack of blogging! I've been so busy and to top it off I have my graduation a week today! However, here is a little illustration I did for the Pencil Play Collective, that I never got around to posting, based on impractical halloween costumes!

a little update

So I'm gradually adjusting to life as a full time in house designer, and i'm thoroughly enjoying it, but not having much free time to do other design stuff is a bit difficult! So in order to get me creating something new at least once a month I am happy to announce I am part of a very exciting new all girls illustration collecttive! The pencil play collective is a great new venture with myself and 9 other fab illustrators!
Each month one of us post a new theme for all of us to illustrate and the last one was science & the zoo. I'm not going to lie, I found this difficult but instead of going for my normal style of working I tried my hand at creating my illustration all in photoshop, and I quite like it!

Keep an eye out on our website for new themes posted every month, and the odd free printables!

María Victoria Rodríguez

María Victoria Rodríguez is a 23 years old illustrator from Rosario-Argentina.  María's work is completely different to what I have featured in the past, but I love the texture and story behind her work!
She spends most of her time drawing and painting. She also uses the computer a lot, since discovering that photoshop has useful tools to paint in a expressive way. She studied Arts at UNR, and attended ilustration classes for 2 years, which have definitely paid off! Lovely work :)

Rebecca Greenwood aka Littletree Designs

Rebecca is the very talented designer and illustrator behind Littletree Designs. Her work is BEAUTIFUL and she has one of the most amazing blogs!

"I am from rainy ol' UK, where I studied Printed Textile Design at De Montfort University in the city of Leicester, from which I graduated in 2007. My style in three words would be Graphic and Colourful with a Retro influence. The three biggest designers that always inspire me have to be Lucienne Day, Orla Kiely and Caroline Gardener, but there are so many more! Apart from designing I LOVE baking, drinking alot of tea and a good book...preferably all three things at once!"

Visit her lovely jubbly blog HERE and her website HERE.

Pilar Moreno

Pilar Moreno is a designer and illustrator. I love the textures and soft colours used in all of these designs, beautiful stuff!

"I have always felt attracted to children's books, colours, textures, and the playful visual universe in general. I like to explore different techniques, learn something new every day and always look for ways to achieve greater creativity. I like to create images that inspire joy and transmit a bit of the passion I feel when I illustrate. I daydream with an illustrated world!"

I did a little bit of editing to my olympic bear, as we all know the olympics are finished, sadly! So I've given him a bit of a facelift for my Etsy shop which will be going live shortly I hope :)

Dawn Machell - Pop-i-cok

I was so happy to hear that a designer/illustrator that inspires me wanted to be featured on my blog! I love Dawn's work and the naive imagery she produces, so so cute!

"I'm a freelance designer from sunny West Yorkshire. I'm originally from a fashion background and I used to design garments as well as the graphics.  I've been freelance for nearly eleven years and I mostly do graphics for baby and kids stuff now. My designs have appeared all over the place from Mamas and Papas and Babies r Us to Boots and Sainsburys. I work on commissions and also produce lots of work for my agent, MySugarCube."

Esani Illustration

My next design feature is of Esani Illustration, the home of Gillian Northcott. When we spoke she told me "I am a graphic designer from Perth Western Australia. I work part time as a graphic designer at a children’s hospital and run my own freelance design business the rest of the time. My business is called 'Esani' which stands for Extra Special Art  "N" Illustration.

Any spare time I have I spend looking at blogs and taking photographs. I am passionate about old houses and buildings and love anything retro, vintage or girlie. One of my favourite past times is shopping and discovering all sorts of treasures that I didn’t realised I needed. I love liquorice, chocolate and ouzo, even all at the same time. I have three special sisters who all have graphic design qualifications. The love’s of my life are my husband and my white 'walking rug' chinchilla cat called Puddy. The one thing I can not live with out is my lipstick. I really don’t enjoy cooking and vacuum cleaners."
